1) Arrival in Strasbourg

The Palais universitaire is #20 on the interactive map.

Coming by train : you will arrive at Strasbourg Central Station. From there, take Bus #10 and get off at “Brant Université”, the University is just opposite the bus stop. It is also possible to take the tramway: to do this, take line A direction “Illkirch Lixenbuhl” (or “Baggersee”) or line D direction “Aristide Briand” and change at “Homme de Fer”; then take line C direction “Neuhof Rodolphe Reuss” and alight at “Gallia”; the University is just a few minutes away by foot.

Coming by Entzheim airport: take shuttle service direction “Baggersee”, and then take the tramway : line E direction “Robertsau Boecklin”, and alight at “Universités” ; the University is just a few minutes away by foot.

Coming by Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden airport (FKB): Depending on where you are coming from, it may consider transiting via the Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden (FKB), located 30 kilometers north-east of Strasbourg. Ryanair offers flights from London-Stansted, Dublin, Rome-Ciampino, Barcelone-Gerone, Stockholm-Skavsta, Valence and Alicante. Although there is no shuttle service between FKB and Strasbourg, it is often possible to make arrangements with fellow travelers. Taxis service is also available.

2) Registration

Registration fees can be paid by bank or postal check to the order of the “Agent Comptable de l’UMB”. Please indicate the reference 911PPF.

3) Accomodations

Here is a short list of hotels all within walking distance of the Palais Universitaire.

Students may be interested in sharing a room at the CIARUS, prices range from 18,50 € to 28,00 € per person per night. Please contact the CSRES for more information.

4) Meals

Participants have a range of facilities available within easy walking distance of the University: several restaurants, fast-food restaurants and bakery shops as well as a kosher grocery and halal restaurants. In addition, there is a cafeteria in the basement of the University.
In partnership with the AFGES, the Conference can arrange for students from other universities to eat at the nearby Gallia University Cafeteria (#26 on the interactive map) for the regular price of 2,80 € per meal. Students wishing to take advantage of this offer should indicate which meals (lunch or dinner) they intend to take; payment for these please upon arrival.


5) Translation

No translation services will be provided during the Conference.



6) Junior Scholars’ Pre-conference for PhD students and postdocs

The Junior Scholars' Pre-conference will be held just prior to the main conference on Tuesday June 3 from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
Papers will be given in English and French. They should have a reading length of 15-20 minutes, or max. 2 200 words, in order to allow time for discussion and will be given in two parallel sessions.

Venue of the Junior Scholars' Pre-conference is the first floor of the Palais Universitaire, in Pasteur and Fustel de Coulanges lecture rooms, 9 place de l'Université, 67084 Strasbourg Cedex. 14 Junior Scholars give their paper from a variety of disciplinary approaches, coming from following Universities:
  • Université de Pau et des Pays de l’Adour: Laboratoire ITEM - Histoire contemporaine;
  • Université de Paris 1 - Panthéon Sorbonne: Département de Géographie;
  • Institut de Théologie orthodoxe Saint Serge, Paris;
  • Institut Protestant de Théologie, Paris;
  • Technische Universität, Berlin, Germany: Fakultät I - Geisteswissenschaften;
  • Katholieke Universiteit, Leuven, Belgium: Religious Studies Department;
  • Pécs University, Hungary: Humanities;
